Open Calls for Artists

SAATCHI Open Call (National) Open to emerging artists around the world in the first five years of
active practice. This year’s prize asks artists to creatively respond to the theme 'Tomorrow'ing:
Visions of a better future'. A total prize fund of £20,000 will be split between six winners, five to
receive £2,000 and one overall winner to receive £10,000. Winning artists will exhibit their work at
Saatchi Gallery in London. [Deadline: July 17]

Project Involve Fellowship A fellowship program organized by Film Independent dedicating to
nurturing the careers of filmmakers from underrepresented backgrounds through mentorship,
workshops, and hands-on filmmaking experience. Project Involve has been Film Independent's
most vital and impactful program designed to build a more inclusive and equitable industry by supporting emerging filmmakers from communities underrepresented in film and entertainment.

PEN Literary Grants These various grants administered by PEN America intend to aid writers and
works-in-progress across various genres, including translation, YA and middle-grade writing, and
oral history. The PEN/Bare Life Review Grants support literary works in progress by immigrant and
refugee writers, recognizing that the literature of migration manifests value. [Deadline: August 1]

Square Festival Open Call The festival is seeking artists, musical artists, and bands who work and
reside on the three continents bordered by the Atlantic Ocean (Africa, Americas, and Europe).
Proposals in any musical genre, with any lineup configuration, and featuring music produced in any
language will be considered. [Deadline: July 31]

NYFA Immigrant Art Career Consultations FREE 1-on-1 Immigrant Population consultation sessions
with an arts career consultant who can give advice on specific topics or offer general arts career
resources. Register for upcoming sessions on August 1, September 2, and October 1
(12:00 PM EST)
Lunch Box Drawing (Milwaukee) Saint Kate-the Arts Hotel in Milwaukee, WI will be exhibiting work
by professional visual artists who maintain a side practice of making drawings or other art
mementos for their children's lunches. If you make daily drawings, with or without Cheeto and
banana stains, we'd like to see them. The exhibition runs from October 18, 2024 through January
11, 2025. [Deadline: August 31]

Other Art Fair (Brooklyn) Open to all artists for selection process to sell artwork through a high
traffic art fair. Zero Space is offering this opportunity for independent artists to display works.
[Deadline: July 31]

Shift Open Call for Residency Artists Each year six New York-based artists receive a shared studio
space, artist honoraria and production fee, career development opportunities, group catalog
production, as well as monthly peer critiques and guest studio visits. The residency period starts
from January 2025, and ends in July 2025, culminating in a curated group exhibition at EFA Project
Space. [Deadline: July 31]

3rd Annual Mini Gems Open Call (National) Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA) is happy to
announce its 3rd Mini Gems Open Call. Get ready to submit your miniature prints for jurying
consideration by September 6, 2024. SAGA’s Mini Gems is a national, juried miniature print
exhibition, held in our gallery in Union Square, NYC since 2022. This year we will show 200
miniature prints on Saturdays from December 7, 2024 to January 4, 2025, giving over $1000 in
awards. This is a call open to all print artists across the country. [Deadline: September 6]

She Built NYC Open Bid The City of New York seeks artists interested in creating public
monuments that honors women’s history. [Deadline: December 31]

Grant Opportunities

Liu Shiming Art Foundation (Visual Art Grant) The Liu Shiming Art Foundation is now accepting
applications for a new round of Liu Shiming Artist Grants designed to support the work of visual
artists during the first decade of their careers. Up to five grants of $5,000 each will support the
creation or completion of new projects. [Deadline: August 31]


Musicians Foundation Emergency Grant These grants are for mid-career music performers,
composers/arrangers, or educators in a specific time of need caused by an unexpected hardship
(e.g., medical or dental situation, natural disaster, or certain housing crisis). The award is made out
to the biller (doctor, hospital, dentist, landlord, mortgage company, utility provider, etc.) directly.
